Sprinkler Heads

The two main types are the rotor heads and the spray heads. These are either placed underground or above the ground systems. Spray sprinkler heads are used in high water applications and can be used to water a place very fast. It discharges water very fast. The water is discharged at a very high speed thus it cannot be applied on a slope.

Rotating Sprinkles
These sprinkler heads have a low application level. The intensity with which water is discharged out is low and it can therefore be used on a slope. Rotor heads are better suited for vast areas. They also give a uniform or even water intake in an area. They are three times slower than the spray sprinklers but are more efficient as they discharge water more evenly. The depth of the roots also determines how much water you will apply on an area. Very shallow roots do not require a lot of water compared to very deep ones.

This is how you test the power of your sprinkler head.
a) Put six cans of equal volume at different places on the lawn.
b) Now run your system for 10 minutes.
c) Now collect water from all six cans in one can.
d) Measure the water depth with the help of ruler, depth of the water indicates the rainfall equivalent in inches per hour.

If some of the cans have more water than others it means that the sprinkler is not working as it should. It needs to be repaired.

The Benefits Of An Underground Sprinkler System

Many people ask if an underground sprinkler system is really worth it? Does it really help improve your lawn and landscape in general? Will, I think you probably already know the answer. Yes, an underground sprinkler system will help green up your yard as well as provide you with an incredible convenience.

We all are envious when we see that lush green lawn down the street. It tells everyone that the homeowner takes good care of their landscaping. But, what you may not realize is that some of this care is done automatically with their underground sprinkler system.

The keys to having a green lawn are pretty basic. You need sunlight and water. Controlling the sunlight is out of your hands of course, but watering your grass is not. The problem most people have is taking the time to water their grass.

Who really has the time to chase around the lawn sprinkler attached to your garden hose? None of us do. That's where an underground sprinkler system can be a big asset.

With a sprinkler system you get the benefits of:

-A scheduled time of watering your grass throughout the week. You set the schedule and the sprinkler system does the rest.

-The convenience of not having to move a lawn sprinkler around and keep track of how long you've watered an area, etc.

-Conservation. You won't be wasting water by forgetting to move the sprinkler and having water going down the drain.

-The ability to water every area of your yard, including shrubs, small trees, and even your garden on a set watering schedule.

As you can see, having an underground sprinkler system is much more than a luxury or a convenience. It's really a key element in having a happy and healthy lawn.

Yes, you'll still need to mow the yard and put on the fertilizer and weed killer, but an underground sprinkler system will take care of the most important part; keeping your grass watered.

Lawn Sprinkler Systems

These systems can either be overhead or underground systems. The underground lawn sprinkler systems are the best as they do not interfere with lawn settings. The lawn sprinkler systems are ideal for lawns as they cover a wide area when distributing water. They also allow a uniform supply of water in the whole lawn. For this to be effective you need a lot of water as the pressure needed to drive the sprinkler is high. Drip system is not ideal for lawn gardening. The overhead systems are also popular as they are easier to install and maintain. To build a lawn sprinkler system, you need the following;

Spray Pop-Ups:

These are made from high corrosion resistant materials such as plastic and chromium. They can also control the spray direction and they have an inlet that is clog free. The nozzles produce water evenly.

Swing Joints:

These swing joints are constructed of stable engineering plastic which makes the pop-up installation easy and fast. It is flexible and the leak tight swivel joints help to install pop-up in different areas and brace it from external impact.

Floppy Sprinklers:

This is a new system that has no moving parts. This makes the maintenance easier. It is suitable for lawns and gardening. The lawn sprinkler system is light in weight and can be put on an aluminum stand for even distribution of water.

Coupler:

These are made for the floppy lawn sprinkler systems. They are made from plastic that is weather and chemical resistance. It gives ease in quick assembling, removal or replacement of a floppy sprinkler.
